Musically inclined youth of our community are encouraged to advance their skills and enjoyment of music. This has been the priority of the Band since its inception. Qualified local high school students have used Gulf Cost Big Band Scholarships to attend summer music camps for over 20 years. They attend programs at the University of Florida, Florida State University, Stetson University, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Northwestern School of Music and several other institutions.
Because of your generosity over the years, the Band has been able to award scholarships of over $80,000. Your continued support of the Band and the Scholarship Program is appreciated. Scholarship recipients greatly benefit from these camps. They grow, not only musically, but as individuals. For some it is the first time they are away from home. This is what some of them have told the Band:
